The story behind Zomacton hGH is fascinating. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Zomacton hGH has an equivalent therapeutic effectiveness and pharmacokinetic profile to hGH of pituitary origin (somatropin). After a subcutaneous injection of 0.1 mg/kg Zomacton, the mean peak serum concentration (±SD) was 80 (±50) ng/mL, which occurred approximately 7 hours after injection; the apparent elimination half-life was ~2.7 hours. Compared with intravenous administration, which can only be done with a specific physician-prescribed formulation of Zomacton, the systemic availability of the subcutaneous administration was ~70%.
