Oxytocin: The Hormone of Connection and Confidence

For good reason, most people immediately associate libido with either estrogen or testosterone. These are important sex hormones. However, oxytocin is another hormone that merits attention, particularly for people going through menopause, dealing with stress, or simply having a low need for connection.

We always consider the whole picture at AAI Rejuvenation Clinic, not just the typical suspects. What about oxytocin? It’s one of our favorite covert libido boosters.

What is oxytocin?

Oxytocin is frequently referred to as the “bonding hormone” or “cuddle hormone.” Physical contact, intimacy, orgasm, childbirth, and nursing all naturally release it. However, it goes beyond simple sentiments. It is essential for arousal, emotional connection, and trust—all of which are the cornerstones of healthy sexual desire.

How Libido Is Supported by Oxytocin

  • Increases Women’s Sexual Desire
  • Lowers Men’s Performance Anxiety
  • Deepens Emotional Bonds

How Clinical Practice Uses It

Oxytocin is not used in isolation. We examine your entire hormone profile. Consider it an addition to your toolkit for intimacy, particularly when:

  • Despite having enough estrogen or testosterone, libido is low.
  • There is trauma or emotional detachment.
  • Your sex drive is being hijacked by stress.

A Few Things to Think About

There is no one-size-fits-all solution with oxytocin. We also address any unresolved stress, hormone imbalance, or relationship strain because it functions best in an environment that fosters connection. Additionally, excessive use can result in emotional highs and lows. It is best used with an appropriate dosage and under medical supervision.

Why choose AAI?

Know that you’re not alone and that it’s not just in your head if you’re feeling “off” in terms of closeness or desire. Oxytocin and other hormones may be the missing piece in your puzzle. At AAI Rejuvenation Clinic, we prioritize your well-being over lab results.

And that encompasses your sense of connection to both your partner and yourself. Are You Prepared to Learn More About Oxytocin and Libido Support? FAQs

In addition to its obstetric uses, oxytocin is often called the “love hormone” due to its role in social bonding, trust, and reducing anxiety. Researchers are exploring its potential use for conditions like autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and social phobia, though conclusive evidence is still mixed and more research is needed.
Oxytocin is given intravenously (into a vein) via an infusion pump under constant medical supervision in a hospital setting for labor induction and augmentation. To stop bleeding, it can also be injected intramuscularly after delivery.
If you are allergic to oxytocin, have a medical condition that makes vaginal delivery unsafe (such as total placenta previa, active genital herpes, or a history of major uterine surgery like a C-section), or the baby is distressed, and delivery is not imminent, you should avoid using oxytocin.
Nausea, vomiting, headaches, stomach pain, and more frequent or intense uterine contractions are common side effects for the mother (an expected effect).
